Earle Levenstein

Born and bred in NYC. Public schools; HS of Music & Art. When not drawing, played stickball every day until dark. Rabid Brooklyn Dodger fan until they fled to CA; now afflicted with the NY Mets. Doomed. On to Syracuse U.; four years bowling at night, resting up during the day; classes a secondary concern. Drafted into the US Army; two years discovering France.

First job-related foray when back: free-lance magazine gag cartooning; precarious existence. Saw a TV storyboard, wrote and boarded one, hired by Benton & Bowles; moved on to Grey Advertising, became a Creative Director; on to another agency as Creative Director, another as President, opened my own agency. Through the years, met, worked with and knew scores of characters on both agency and client side of the battle to save the world from a life devoid of ways to spend money.

Interesting; weird; charming, amusing, boozers, talented, inspired and otherwise. Came away with scores of stories to tell; ADMAN is the first; halfway into the next; more to follow.
