Richard E. Carmen

Dr. Carmen received his Doctor of Audiology Degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences, a division of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He's been practicing audiology and issuing hearing aids since 1973. His research topics have included tinnitus, emotional aspects of hearing loss, resistance to treatment, the effects of metabolic diseases on hearing, and audiologists' personality types. He's written extensively in the field as a regular contributor to various hearing journals and authored, co-authored and has been a chapter contributor for several other books. His material has appeared in such popular consumer-based periodicals as The Saturday Evening Post, Ladies' Home Journal, and Self Magazine. He's been a board member for a number of national associations and among current posts is one of the technical advisors to The Better Hearing Institute and an editorial advisor for an industry publication Advance for Audiologists. Dr. Carmen resides in Sedona, Arizona.
