Dr. Gunther Holman, sits on a park bench in Germany one day and reminisces about the incident that poisoned his heart. His story begins with Russia’s 9/11, the Beslan school massacre, then shifts to Darfur when Al Qaeda bomb maker, Omar Masseyf, flees the school hijacking. Omar finds sanctuary in a displaced persons camp amidst the very people he has been conditioned to hate. As his secret comes to light, several are still willing to help him face the coming onslaught by Russian government assassins. One is Nurse Nancy, an ex-Khymer Rouge turned Christian missionary. Another is CIA agent Merc Magregor, who suffers with survivor guilt from having fought in Afghanistan. The other is Peter dut James, a Dinka tribesman suffering from PTSD as a Lost Boy. The Good Doctor is the physician at the camp with his own dark secret. His narrative and actions depict the ultimate hypocrite in need of the same transformation Omar comes to experience.
